Qatar to recruit 150 Egyptian doctors

Manama: Qatar plans to recruit 150 doctors from Egypt in the first phase of a medical recruitment drive.

Medical authorities will next month start recruiting doctors for health centres and family medical departments in hospitals, Qatari daily The Peninsula reported on Friday.

The 150 doctors will be recruited between November and May 2011, Egypt's Health Minister, Dr Hatim Al Jabli, said in Cairo, following a meeting with his Qatari counterpart, Dr Abdullah Al Qahtani.

A senior Egyptian health official has suggested that Egypt and Qatar should set up joint medical and pharmaceutical ventures with other Arab countries.

"Egypt has accumulated a wealth of experience and has competent and skilled medical staff who can help ensure the success of the ventures," the official was quoted by Qatari Al Arab newspaper as saying.
